San Antonio Lunar New Year meetup

Kudos to AAJA Analisa Nazareno and Michele Chan Santos for organizing a great event in San Antonio!

Several people attended the Lunar New Year festival at the Institute of Texan Cultures, which was emceed by AAJA member Eileen Teves.
The highlight of the day was our dinner at the cozy Thai Lao Orchid, a new restaurant in downtown San Antonio. Attending were Analisa, me, Eileen, University of Texas graduate student Yimou Lee, University of Texas San Antonio professor Juyan Zhang and Dr. Zhang's wife and their daughter, and Analisa's daughter Mia. We enjoyed a relaxing evening of good food (they have great pho there) and lots of conversation in English and Chinese -- Yimou and Dr. Zhang were delighted to be able to speak Mandarin with one another.
